Het concern onderzoekt in ieder geval nieuwe namen voor de compacte hatchback, zo bevestigt de woordvoerster van Ford aan AutoTelegraaf.nl. "De discussie (over een andere naam, red.) is er altijd wanneer je een totaal nieuwe auto gaat introduceren," aldus de zegsvrouw. "Ik sluit niet uit dat de naam Fiesta wordt vervangen, maar ik kan dat zeker niet bevestigen. Dat is iets wat nu op strategisch niveau wordt uitgezocht." Welke naam achterop de opvolger van de Fiesta komt te staan, zullen we voorlopig niet horen. De volgende generatie komt volgend jaar en debuteert vermoedelijk in maart op de autoshow in Genève. Kort daarna start de verkoop in Nederland. De technische basis wordt gevormd door de Mazda 2, die vrijwel gelijktijdig in de showroom verschijnt. De Japanners hebben het overgrote deel van de ontwikkeling voor hun rekening genomen, maar het design is door Ford tot stand gekomen. Ford wil de Fiesta-opvolger wereldwijd verkopen. In Europa komt het model als drie- en als vijfdeurs hatchback. Voor onder andere Noord-Amerika en Azië komt Ford met een vierdeurs sedan. The motoring giant is set to launch a new version of its small car model next year, and has drawn up a list of alternative names including Genesis, Isis and Phoenix. Edwin_ST Posted July 15, 2007 Report Share Posted July 15, 2007 Misschien dat er zelfs snelle modellen van de Ka uitgebracht worden: Een Ford Ka ST (lees Ford Kast) Een Kord Ka RS (lees Ford Kaars) Een Ka XR bestaat wel, maar dan alleen in Brazilië Effe zonder gekheid, toen ik twee jaar geleden mijn Fiesta St kocht bij de dealer in Eindhoven heb ik het met hem ook gehad over een mogelijke naamsverandering van de Fiesta, en vooral waarom Ford dit niet gedaan heeft. De Escort is de Focus geworden (met een C-Max en een S-max erbij) De Sierra is de Mondeo geworden Waarom is de Fiesta dan bijvoorbeeld geen Fusion geworden met de huidige Fusion een Fusion B-max of zo?
